A night away August 2009
A night away - Hotel Molino Lario, Málaga
Málaga is one of my favourite cities in the world. Most tourists arrive at Málaga airport and go on to other places but it is so worth while driving to the centre and staying overnight, as we have done on many occasions.
A perfect place to stay is Hotel Molino Lario. It is just a gentle walk to the cathedral, port, beach and the famous Calle Larios, which is full of cafes, hotels, shops - some of which are almost a century old.
The street is decorated for special occasions like the August Festival, Christmas and Carnival.
Hotel Molino opened in 2007 and, entering the hotel, you are aware of a quiet efficiency at reception, as many clients are dealt with in a professional way.
The room looked over a central courtyard with a café. The décor was in soft gentle colours. The in-room services included the usual air-con, safe, flat screen TV, wifi access, and as an unusual extra, a CD player.
There were lovely toiletries and an umbrella, which we did not need. The bed was king size and very comfortable.
We took the lift to the roof terrace and saw beautiful views over Málaga, but didn’t take time to use the outdoor pool.
Later on in the evening, after dining in the famous El Trulli Restaurant in Calle Larios, we returned to the roof terrace for a drink and looked over Málaga at night.
Next morning, after a lovely breakfast, where the chefs cooked hot breakfasts to order, we walked to the cathedral, then on to the Picasso Museum, spending time sitting at cafes along the way.
This hotel is the perfect place to stay and we will be back soon.
