A night away - Hotel Molino del Arco

For those who live on the costa, it is essential to visit Ronda. We have stayed more than once in the busy tourist town but to celebrate my sister’s birthday, we decided we would look out in the countryside nearby.

Originally Molino de Arco was an 18th century olive mill and now has been tastefully restored and converted into a unique and tranquil hotel.

Entering reception, the quietness was touchable, even though we knew that the hotel was fully booked that night. We were greeted brightly at reception, and were shown into a restful seating area, complete with bar and internet access.

We appreciated the “Honesty” list at the bar, making it easy for us to select a drink when we wanted.

Our room was large, decorated like the rest of the hotel witha mix of modern and antique pieces. Lovely terracotta tiled floors with rustic wooden wardrobes and doors. The ensuite bathroom was decorated in a soft peach. Simple things like extremely comfortable beds and good power showers made our stay most relaxing.

Walking though the gardens was a very pleasurable experience. The original stone water channels, bubbled delightfully down the sides of the path to the swimming pool. The scent of rows of lavender, bobbing heads of Agapanthus seemed to make even the birds sing louder. The pool area was grassed and provided ample space to find a private corner to sit for the day.

Breakfast was served in the dining room on the first floor. Fresh fruit juices, home made cakes, conserves, etc were available. Although we did not stay for dinner, the vegetable garden is used to supply the kitchen.

This is certainly a place to hide for a few days, and is easily accessed from Ronda, by taking the Seville Road for approximately one kilometre, keeping a careful eye out for the turn to the right. Then it is clearly signposted through country lanes for about two kilometres.

Price for our room was €85.60 (B&B).
